Sabadell in the 19th century
In the course of the 19th century, Sabadell became the top wool city in Spain. Its growing economic activity led to great urban change, which becomes clear when walking along some streets in the city centre. We suggest a route starting at the old Renfe station (in Calle Estació), as this means of transport was very important for the city's industrial development.
Then you can walk along Calle Indústria, which linked the station with the city centre and where many textile businesses and mansions were established. The walk can also take you to the city's Rambla, which was also an important central street during the 19th century. As an example of industrial facilities, we suggest a visit to the Old Buxeda Steam Mill.
