Certification
To bring the Sabadell City Council website closer to all users, paying special attention to certain disabilities, an effort has been made to adapt the pages to the directives set out by the WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) in WCAG 1.0 (Content Accessibility Directives 1.0).

Once adapted, there was input from the King-eClient, eBusiness & Consulting company, which took part in the Web Content Accessibility Working Group and carried out an audit of the Sabadell.net Municipal Portal on 01/04/2005.

As a result of this audit, the level of accessibility to the plans was determined, enabling the WAI Double-A Rating seal to be included in these plans, which meet the guidelines of the WAI.

Websites that do not expressly state this are, at present, being adapted to WAI criteria.
Characteristics of the Sabadell.net
  • The sabadell.net portal is in four languages: Catalan, Spanish, English and French. The English and French versions offer a reduced version of the content.
  • Sabadell.net has enhanced the execution code at the municipal server to release downloads of pages to web customers and to allow users to access via browsers that do not have JavaScript.
  • From each of its pages, Sabadell.net provides direct access to the main services of the portal: diary, directory, procedures, complaints and suggestions, all-night chemist's, search engines, map of the city, web map, portal homepage, and the 'Contact' page where users can contact the City Council and portal administrator.
  • At present, in order to continue working to offer a broader range of services, work is being carried out to validate the majority of portal contents and to ensure a triple A rating according to WCAG 1.0.
Help with browsing
  • Links that do not clearly describe their purpose have the attribute “title” with a text description.
  • All published images that complement the information on the page have the attribute “alt” with a text description.
  • Links to the same text and different destinations are differentiated by means of the description given with the attribute “title”.
  • In cases when JavaScript code is used, there is an alternative way of accessing information using computers that do not carry this code.
  • All contents are displayed in the same window, except for external websites and the Map of Sabadell.
  • Despite the layout having tables, the pages have been developed using CSS properties for all the visual design attributes.
  • The CSS used enables all the pages to be viewed correctly (except Live in Sabadell pages, currently being adapted, and the websajsab directory pages) by selecting standard text dimensions offered by the browsers: largest, large, medium and small.
  • To browse this website, users will need Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, Netscape Navigator 6.0 or higher, or Mozilla 1.1. Users will also need to have an 800x600 point screen with 256 colours.
Access keys
Sabadell.net has defined keyboard access to the main sections of the portal. The combination of keys will depend on the computer and web access platform.
The way of accessing short-cut keys will vary according to the browser used:

* Explorer: Alt + key + enter.
* Mozilla Firefox and Netscape Navigator: Alt + key.
* Opera: Shift+Esc+key
